Interconnected moments and actions that shaped the current image of Somaliland’s Social Contract.

Somaliland has so far failed to address the worrying crisis of injustice, clanism, rentierism and climatechange. Tracking these crisis needs well-deliberated transformative change, we either reshape the ways our societies function or these crises will overwhelm our institutions, causing ineffable suffering.

ISIR will use a hybrid format and organize a roundtable discussion to establish a comparative agenda for understanding how injustice, clanism, rentierism and climatechange are hindering Somaliland’s transformative change.

The session focuses on the 4 Rs: Realities, responsibilities, rentierism, and re-engagements.

Session will cover

1. The importance of the application of the “Justice for All” principles in repairing the Social Contract
2. Re-engaging with vibrant non-state actors to renegotiate the Social Contract objectives
3. The role of Social Accountability Initiatives in remodelling the Social Contracts
