Public Awareness of Legislative Institutions – Study Discussion

The Institute for Strategic Insights and Research (ISIR) organized a Public Legislative Awareness Forum at the House of Representatives Headquarters in Hargeisa to present the findings of its research titled Public Awareness of Legislative Institutions in Somaliland: Enhancing Citizen Understanding and Trust in Governance Reforms. The forum brought together Members of Parliament, parliamentary committee representatives, civil society organizations, researchers, academics, and other key stakeholders to discuss the study’s findings and promote dialogue on strengthening legislative awareness and public participation.

The forum was organized to increase public understanding of the role and responsibilities of Somaliland’s legislative institutions and to encourage evidence-based discussions on democratic governance. It also aimed to strengthen collaboration between Parliament, research institutions, and civil society by sharing research findings that can contribute to improving transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement in legislative processes.

Throughout the event, participants were introduced to the objectives of the study, its research methodology, key findings, and recommendations. The presentations were followed by discussions involving Members of Parliament, governance experts, and civil society representatives, who reflected on the findings and shared practical recommendations for improving public awareness, parliamentary communication, and legislative effectiveness.
